About Fulora

Fulora Foundation is one of the Mumbai’s largest private relief and development organization, founded in 1984 and registered as a Public Charitable Trust in the 1996 after the detailed study for almost 12 years by eminent educationist & ex vice-chancellor of Mumbai University Late Prof. Ram Joshi.

Our country is fast marching on the path of socio-economic progress. Old ideas, traditions and practices are making way for their modern-day versions. The vista of life for the average Indian is broader than ever. Every educated citizen of India today is more aware of the role that he plays in society. Knowledge of his surroundings has become just as important as knowledge of his own self. In such a glorious scenario, therefore, the co-existence of an almost parallel society on the streets, one that is miles from the delicate social structure that we have so assiduously built over the years, one that effectively undermines all the benefits we have gained, comes as a jarring shock.

Indeed, not less than five lakh unfortunate people inhabit the streets of Mumbai alone. Whether let down by fate or society, they lead an existence that is less than humane. Shorn of dignity and deprived of their basic rights, they have come to accept their miserable life as their destiny. And far from trying to find a meaning in life, they drag their children into the same hell that they wallow in.

While it may or may not be too late to change the deep-rooted mindsets of the adults, we can definitely give the nation’s children a better upbringing. We can show them glorious horizons of education, a dignified hard-earned living and social acceptance. A similar attempt can be made for the adults as well.

We all, at some point of time, have to take it on ourselves to bring our goodwill into action, give shape to our ideas and get about actually changing what we can. It was exactly with this motivation that Fulora Foundation was established in 1984 by Late Prof. Ram Joshi (noted educationalist and Ex-Vice Chancellor, Mumbai university) and Mr. Arun Sabnis (C.M.D. of Creator Advertising Agency Ltd.). Fulora Foundation is registered as a Public Charitable Trust under the Public Charitable Trust Act1950 Regn. No. E-16342 (Mumbai). Fulora Foundation has been a vehicle for Mumbai’s generosity towards the underprivileged.

How Fulora Foundation has strived to reach our goodwill to all spheres of society is clearly evident in the various projects it has undertaken so far. Equally far-sighted and promising are the many projects that are still in the process of being planned and initiated. A brief overview of some projects has been given in the pages to follow.
