Children’s day out on 28th february 2016, 2016

On 28th February 2016, a group of young enthusiastic students along with the support of Fulora Foundation, organized a day out for the street children from Andheri (E). It included a visit to the famous Nehru Centre and The Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens (aka The Hanging Gardens).
The number of children living on the streets of Mumbai appears to be growing considerably. At a very young age they have to constantly struggle to fulfill basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter. They are deprived of many pleasures of life which are enjoyed by most of the kids of their age. And so, a fun filled trip was planned by a terrific group of students for such children. The main intention was, to let them have a gist of what it feels to be normal.
The children were first taken to Planetarium at the Nehru Centre, Worli. There they exposed to a whole new side of their home planet ‘Earth’, through the planetarium’s in-house movie – Wonders of the Universe. This spectacular display of the entire universe was both educational as well as entertaining for these naïve children. Later, a play session was conducted for them at the Hanging Gardens where the children were awestruck at the sight of the grand Boot House. Snacks and lunch arrangements were also made for the kids by this group of students.
An unusual festive environment had surrounded the kids like never before. They were thrilled to be a part of such an occasion which was organized just for them. It was indeed very special for the children as well as the organizers, who posses such noble minds.
